Bruce Makinson
Bruce Makinson was born in Ottawa into one of the most prominent racing families in the Ottawa area. Bruce’s father, ‘Rapid’ Roy Makinson, had a lengthy and successful career as a local racer, racing in Ontario, Quebec and Northern New York State. Bruce spent most of his summers traveling with his father from racetrack to racetrack. When Bruce was old enough he became a member of his fathers’ Pit Crew. Bruce always watched his father intently on the track and in the garage as Bruce’s dream was to one day race his own car.
Bruce has now realized that dream. Years ago he convinced his wife that he would only race occasionally in Enduros and it wouldn’t be every week. Well, after his first year of Enduro he suggested he visit the local track and race occasionally. He’s now in his 18th year racing weekly; Bruce had convinced his wife to go with him weekly and race. He made a believer out of her. Once she realized he had talent, the drive and a dream, she couldn’t hold him back.
