Hi
Everybody,
Don’t you wish you had a job that you can be wrong all the time and not get fired?!?!?
We decided to visit Brockville Speedway again this past Saturday night. We were a little hesitant as it was calling for torrential downpours…yeah…well, we had a few rain drops for about 5 minutes and that was it. But I think I would have preferred to have been rained out.
The night went quickly (amazing how a track can move things along when they think they may get rained out), there was a 50-Lap Modified race and a 40-Lap Sportsman…it seems none of us checked the schedule and we didn’t realize that until we got there. But it did move quickly, we were finished and on our way home by 10:00pm.
Only 19 cars showed up for the Triple Crown race. This isn’t great numbers because only 19 showed for the Mods too. I’m hoping BOS is starting to notice and maybe see there’s a problem at their track….Mohawk had 27 Sportsman show up for a regular race…just sayin’ zol.
So, qualifying wasn’t a problem. But I have to let you know that I have a new “maroon” to add to my list. During Bruce’s qualifying race the driver behind Bruce totally jumped one of the restarts and flew past Bruce only to run into the rear quarter of the car ahead. What a maroon!!! And really, such an obvious jump on the restart and then to run into the car ahead and give her a flat tire. I’m thinking such silliness should be penalized with having to pay for that person’s tire. This wasn’t a racing incident; it was just a stupid intentional move on this driver’s part. If he had to pay for that tire maybe he’s think twice about doing it again. But the good part was the officials for the night were all over him and gave him notice that even if he did get ahead he would have been moved back in positions.
The officiating this past Saturday night was very good. They called back restarts and it didn’t seem to bother them as to how many. They were going to have it done right or not at all….beautiful (even though I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes and I would have loved for the race to start a little faster).
During the Feature, Bruce started in 7th but didn’t anticipate on the track drying out so much and becoming so slick so he wasn’t able to move forward or keep his 7th. In the end he finished 14th. It definitely wasn’t the evening we would have liked but at least we came home without major damage and the track wasn’t as rough as it’s been so far this year.
Really the best part of the evening for me was Bruce’s new race suit. We had ordered it from Leaf Racewear and it needed alterations. I sent it to them early in the week, they rec’d it on Wednesday and had it back to us on Friday and it fits great!! Wow, what customer service and a great product. I highly recommend them, they may cost a little more but they are definitely worth it…if you’re in the market for a new suit check them out at: http://www.leafracewear.com
Will we make Brockville our regular track again??? Not right yet, we enjoyed Mohawk so much that we’ve decided to go back there this Friday night. So, we won’t be at Brockville this weekend. This year we are more like gypsies so if you want to see us race, please make sure you contact one of us to see where we’ll be. I will try to keep this page up to date as to where we’ll be.
Well, gotta go….have a Happy and Safe Canada Day and hope to see you at Mohawk this coming Friday.

Hi Everybody,
What a great weekend of racing. First I’d like to again thank all of our dedicated sponsors and all they do for us. They don’t only help financially with our racing program; they provide us with great friendship and a great racing family. We try our best to support your businesses and promote others to shop or use your services as well. It makes me feel good knowing we have these types of people in our lives…thank you!
So, don’t forget if you need an awesome accountant call Sandy Vanier, CPA, CGA. Or for all of your auto parts needs visit Napa Manotick (they have a nice new location on Mitch Owens Rd.). And if you need metal work done, there’s always our friend SFL Metal Works; Julio does amazing work. And of course you have to eat and there’s no better place to eat then Royal’s Restaurant in Richmond. It’s definitely worth the drive. And for all your commercial lighting needs, call Roy’s Lighting! Come on! He does the Hill at Christmas, he’s gotta be good.
Now for racing.
This past weekend we decided to take a break from Brockville Speedway and visit Mohawk Speedway. Well, all I have to say is OMG! An excellent facility and track and great racing. There were 27 Sportsman Modifieds that showed up. They were able to race them all without incident. The Mods went flag to flag without a caution!
Bruce only being there for the first time this year had to start near the back for his Heat race and the Feature but that didn’t matter. We were able to enjoy a night of RACING, not demo derbying (I know it’s not a word but it is now!).
The track was very slick. From the start we could see the sun hitting the track and there was a shine to it. This made it slick and hard to pass on. But honestly we didn’t care. Bruce started the Feature in 22nd position and made his way to 18th. I knew from the start that the race was mostly going to be a parade due to the track conditions but it was still beautiful. People passed using their skills not their bumper; there were virtually no potholes in the track. It’s wide and long….have I gotten my point across yet?!?!? Hell, I loved it!
And I have to say thank you to one of our great sponsors, Sandy Vanier; Bruce looked great in his new race suit. Sandy sponsored a new suit from Leaf Racewear and he looks great in it. It’s orange like the car but us girls like being coordinated somewhat J. I’ve put a couple of pics up on our site.
And thank you to Leaf Racewear, there are still a few adjustments needed (due to my error in measurements) but they are about customer service and will be making the adjustments this week and we hope to get it back later this week….keep your fingers crossed. The suit is awesome and I now feel more comfortable that Bruce is safer in the car with it.
So, this weekend we still haven’t decided where we will be racing. Once I know for sure I’ll try to remember to put it on the website so you will know…just in case you are plan on coming out. If you are definitely wanting to come out this weekend, feel free to email me and I can give you a personal update.
Have a great week and thank you everyone for your support!
Cheers,
Lynda

Hi
Everybody,
Wow, I know it was military night at Brockville Speedway this past Saturday night but I didn’t expect them to put trenches and fox holes on the track…over kill…wouldn’t you say?!?!
The track was the worse we’ve seen in a long time due to rain on Friday and lack of proper maintenance…yes I said it, lack of proper maintenance. I’m not the only one that feels this way. I spoke to people while watching some of the races and it was a common theme in our conversations. And the proof is the number of accidents this past Saturday night. Every class was a shit show. The Sportsman started with 24 cars and when I left the tower I counted 14 on the track. And you can’t tell me it was only the drivers’ fault; there were many top running drivers that were out. Well, that’s it for my rant...for now.
Saturday night was a nice night to race, it was warm when the sun was out but it cooled down as the sun went down (but I didn’t have to wear my long johns! J). The boys worked all week on the engine and got things running right again. So, all looked promising.
The Heat race had Bruce starting in the first row on the outside (2nd). And he was beside a driver that was fast and competitive but Bruce just seemed to want it more. From the start Bruce was able to pull ahead, many times the other driver was biting at his tail but it didn’t bother Bruce very much. (It’s nice when you can race that close together and not hit each other…that’s what we call racing!). In the end, Bruce took the checkered and it was a beautiful sight, we were finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This year hasn’t started out too great for us but this was looking promising.
Now for the Feature; Bruce was starting in 5th. This isn’t the spot we’d prefer. Odd numbers means you’re starting on the inside and most times that means the outside will start a train effect and pass you easily. And that’s what had started to happen. But first we had to have our major wreck of the race. On the first lap coming into one there was a major pile up with one car on its roof and another on the cement barrier wall. The race was red flagged with not even a lap on the books yet. Luckily it happened further back in the pack so Bruce wasn’t anywhere near it. But throughout the race there were cars flying everywhere. On one lap I remember seeing cars bopping up and down on one and two only to lose it leaving two and causing another wreck. Bruce told us that when you tried to miss one hole you most likely were going to hit another. I think all the wrecks were caused by both the drivers being a little too zealous on a badly maintained track. They should have exercise a bit of patience and common sense but at the same time it would have been nice if the track was in better condition. On one of the restarts Bruce was starting 10th…yeahhhh…he’s on the outside, this should be good….right!?!? Hell, no, again on corners one and two on the restart a couple of cars were completely sideways in front of Bruce. And Bruce with his quick motor skills checked up in a hurry not to t-bone one of them and he ended up getting rammed from behind sending Bruce sideways where another car rode on his side rail and hit his front left tire which sent Bruce into a puddle and head on into a barrier tire. Bruce is ok; a little sore in the neck (it was a sudden stop for sure) but the front end wasn’t so lucky. Bruce was on the hook again. It took the guys some time and a sledge hammer to get the front left tire off to get things straightened out so we could just load the car.
This year is just not working out very well at Brockville. I believe we’ll be having a team meeting this week to discuss an alternative track for this coming weekend. I’m thinking Mohawk on Friday night. This is an amazing facility. And we need to change our luck, this year has cost us a lot of money so far and it’s only our 6th race of the season.
If you’re planning on coming out to watch us race this weekend please contact us to see where we’ll be, I’d hate for you to show up at Brockville and us not be there.
Another week of being a racin’ widow…”racin’s stupid” (even Bobby said that this past weekend…lol.)
Have a great week everybody and hope to see you at the races…somewhere…
Cheers,
Lynda

Hi Everybody,
To summarize our season so far; rainout, tire issues, rainout, complete first rainout finished 12th (not bad considering), motor issues. This season is not starting out as well as we had hoped.
This past weekend was the Sportsman double feature. The first race was to complete the May 9th race that was cut short around lap 8. And as usual, the track has their own way of lining the guys up which no one (I’m thinking including them) quite understand. As far as Dave Austin and I could see on May 9th Bruce should have been re-starting in 14th but they had him in 17th when I checked the board this past Saturday. Now, this is the first time for me, I did go up to speak to the race officials about their error but only got the answer “it’s too far back to remember”. Well, I remembered and as most of you men know…a woman never forgets!! But you can’t argue with the officials, I think I might start videotaping again just to make sure Bruce gets his fair shake when it comes to rainout restarts.
Anyways, back to racin’. Saturday was a nice evening for racing, it wasn’t too hot or too cold (until the sun went down…and they laugh at me wearing long johns to the races some nights…ha! They didn’t laugh Saturday night; it turned real cold when the sun went down). And it was a very dusty night; you know the one where you pick dirt out of your eyes for days.
Bruce went out for hot laps (warm up laps) and came back with a funny look in his eyes. The motor was bogging out. So, right away the hood came off and they started working furiously to see if they could fix it. They thought they had it under control so off to the May 9th Feature Bruce went. He was starting somewhere around 17th to 15th….I think some cars from the 9th didn’t show up so I think he was moved up (imagine if he had started in 14th…maybe he would have started 12th…just sayin’ zol).
The first Feature had a few cautions but once it started going Bruce was doing well. The motor issues seemed to be fine for now. He worked his way up to 12 and was catching up to 11th but it was a shortened race because 9 laps were completed on the 9th so this was only 16 laps long. In the end Bruce finished 12th. Our first fully completed race of the season and he originally started 21st and finished 12th! I'm happy with those results.
Now there were the Heat races and the regular Features. The guys did adjustments to the set up but we didn’t get Hot laps to test things out so it was going to be a wing and a prayer.
The Feature of the night saw Bruce starting in 4th. Now, this we thought could turn out really good. Set ups are getting better and our motor should be race ready. Once the race started it was stupid…you’d think it was the first race of the season. They couldn’t get a full lap in without a caution, it took a few tries. On one of the restarts a maroon (yeah, now I have two of them) seemed to have vision problems and just reamed Bruce in the rear and sent Bruce into the side of our good friend Billy Cook. Bruce was able to continue on but poor Billy was out for the night. Now that’s just not cool. I was hoping for Bruce and Billy to take on the pack and finish one, two (Bruce the ONE of course).
On the restart Bruce was in third. Not the greatest place to be, the outside was the line to have and starting third put him on the inside. So on the restart (the one that actually took) Bruce got past by a few cars. It was rough out there and I don’t mean only the track. It was like they were all trying to win the race in the first lap. Then suddenly Bruce started to go backwards more than forwards, he pulled the car in and we were done. The motor started sputtering and backfiring…it was not race ready anymore and it’s better to save the motor then to try and push it. In the end he finished 21st.
The guys are pretty sure they know what the problem is and should be able to fix it this week so we will be race ready once again this coming Saturday.
As some of you may recall my feelings about racing…”racin’s stupid!” They put in so much time, money and effort into this and it can be so heartbreaking. This season is starting out that way. A lot of time, money and effort has been put into the car with no real rewards. I’m hoping it turns around soon, maybe with all of your help it can, please send positive thoughts and energy Bruce’s way, I’m a believer that this will help….hell, something’s gotta help!
This coming weekend is looking warm but if’y. They’re saying 30% chance of rain but we all know that can change at any time. Let’s hope that it doesn’t rain and Bruce gets out there and kicks ass!
Racing may be stupid to me but it’s his passion and I’ll always be right behind him, supporting his passion.
I put up a few new pics in the Gallery. There’s a pic of Bruce, Bobby and the third old guy helping with the motor is Bruce’s oldest brother Billy (yeah, I’m always going to call you Billy J). It was nice to have him as part of the pit crew Saturday night helping out. Thanks big brother (aka brother-in-law). As always, we can count on Bruce’s other big brother, Bobby, Bruce’s crew chief. Thanks guys.
Have a great week everybody!
Lynda

It was nice to have him as part of the pit crew Saturday night helping out. Thanks big brother (aka brother-in-law). As always, we can count on Bruce’s other big brother, Bobby, Bruce’s crew chief. Thanks guys.
Have a great week everybody!
