Hi Everybody,
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in these crazy times. Whether you believe in this virus or not, it’s smarter to take the safer route for now. Normal will return one day so be patient. Trust me, Bruce and I discuss this a lot lately and we really don’t know what to believe. But we don’t want to take the chance of getting someone else sick or worse. We both have elderly parents, and some friends that have health issues that this virus could really do harm to. It’s better to be on the side of caution.
We are both very blessed right now, we are both still working. I work from home and go to the office once a week. Bruce is working because he’s considered essential, forklifts move food and products around that need to be moved, and they always need fixin’. So, he’s happy to be working but it’s a bittersweet happiness. Some people don’t get it and get a little too close for comfort but I’m trying to teach him to tell them to “cough-off” (and I hope most of you know me well enough to know that’s not exactly what I said).
As for your off-season/season update, if you haven’t heard already, Bruce will be retiring from racing in 2 years’ish. Yes, that means 2 more seasons of racing. The exciting news is we have decided to go 358 Modified next season! (again, if you haven’t heard already...hard to keep secrets in the racing community…lol). Yup, Bobby and Bruce are very excited and looking forward to racing. I’m not feeling too happy about it, but I agreed because he might as well finish his racing career in something he’s always wanted to do.
It seems like the two years might not be the two I had hoped for, but I promised him 2 more seasons, so, he’ll get two more seasons.
Meanwhile, Bruce has been tinkering in the garage. He had the old racing seat from his big wreck, and he didn’t feel right about selling it because it had some damage, so he decided to make good use of it. See MY new garage/hauler chair. Comes with wheels, foot rest and beverage holder. I’ve posted pics in the Gallery. (YES Bobby, I said MY chair!). Note that the foot rest, lever and beverage holders have some racing parts in them. Bicknell holds my beverage!
Well, that’s our exciting news for the off season. We are hoping our sponsors will come back for another two seasons to help us make it an amazing end-of-career send off.
If you’re interested in helping make it a better send-off for Bruce with sponsorship, or know someone who might be, please contact me. I have brochures I can mail out to you or we can have a social distancing drop off (and hopefully a beverage as a delivery charge). I’ve already had someone mention they might want to help if we changed the car back to yellow with the old #81. We’ll see what support we have on this idea and maybe it will happen…who knows!?!
By the way, the 358 is in the garage now and it’s just killing them not getting to race it, or as Bruce says, “He can’t wait to put his foot into that”.
If you get bored and want to talk racing, call Bruce, not me...lol. Or send us an email.
Have a safe and healthy summer, hope to see you at the races soon,
Lynda
